Two police personnel were k*illed in a tragic road accident near the Talland-Khalini road in Shimla after their car collided with a tanker, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Head Constable Praveen Mehta and Constable Hemant Kumar, both posted at the Police Lines Kaithu. According to preliminary information, the two were travelling in an Alto car bearing registration number HP-52A when it collided with the tanker.
The impact of the collision proved fatal for both policemen. Police took possession of the bodies and initiated the necessary proceedings. An investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances and cause of the accident.
In another road accident in Shimla on Monday morning, a pickup vehicle loaded with apples met with an accident near the ISBT crossing at around 6 am.
The vehicle was reportedly travelling from Rohru towards the Solan vegetable market when the accident occurred. Fortunately, the driver and co-driver sustained only minor injuries and were able to avoid serious consequences.
Police are investigating both incidents and further details are awaited.
