5 youths killed in Himachal accident as Bolero falls into gorge in Kinnaur

KINNAUR: Five youths were killed when the Bolero vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday (January 17, 2024) afternoon.
According to information, the accident occurred as the Bolero Camper vehicle, en route from Kinnaur district headquarters Reckongpeo to Shirdi via Sangla link road, veered off the road and plunged into a 300-foot-deep gorge.
The accident took place about 5 to 6 km ahead of Shudarang, resulting in the vehicle, a new Bolero Camper, being shattered into pieces. The casualties include four passengers and the driver, all of whom succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident.
The police, with the assistance of local residents, extricated the bodies from the wreckage in the gorge. The bodies were then taken to Reckongpeo Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Subsequently, the bodies will be handed over to their respective families.
Confirming the incident, Kinnaur SP Vivek Chahal said that the police were working to determine the circumstances leading to the accident. The police have registered a case and initiated inquest proceedings.
