MANDI: Two youths were killed in a collision between the motorcycle they were riding upon and a tempo traveller at Pulgharat near Mandi on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway in Himachal Pradesh.
According to information, the accident occurred around 12.30 am on January 29, 2024, and the motorcyclists died on the spot. Both residents of Balh in Mandi district, the youths are learnt to have died on the spot. A few passengers travelling in the tempo traveller also sustained injuries as the vehicle overturned while its driver was trying to escape the collision.
Reports suggest that the collision was severe, leading to critical injuries that proved fatal for the two youths. Following the impact, the tempo traveller overturned on the road, causing injuries to the passengers aboard.
Upon receiving news of the accident, the local authorities arrived on the spot with the police initiating the necessary procedures. The injured passengers were shifted to the Zonal Hospital in Mandi for treatment through 108 ambulances. The police have registered a case and started inquest proceedings.
The death of the youths has led to a shock among the local community and a pall of gloom descended at their native places in Balh. The families of the deceased were inconsolable.
