The Radha Soami charitable hospital at Bhota in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh is set to reopen for patients starting Monday, following orders issued by the Beas management to the hospital administration.
The staff previously deployed to Sikanderpur has also been instructed to return. Hospital Administrator Jitendra Jaggi confirmed the development, which came after Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that the government was preparing to introduce an amendment bill to address the long-pending land transfer issue tied to the hospital.
During a high-level meeting held at his official residence Oak Over in Shimla, the Chief Minister directed officials to draft the amendment bill urgently and present it at the next Cabinet meeting.
The state government aims to amend the Land Ceiling Act on the first day of the winter session of the Assembly, scheduled to begin on December 18 in Dharamshala. The Chief Minister emphasised that keeping the hospital operational is essential to ensure continued access to quality healthcare services for the people living in surrounding areas.
Sukhu revealed that while an ordinance was initially considered to provide relief to the Radha Soami Satsang Beas Charitable Hospital-Bhota, the government deemed it more practical to address the issue through legislative amendment, given the proximity of the Assembly session.
The land-related dispute, which has hindered the hospital’s operations for nearly a decade, was previously discussed during the BJP’s tenure in 2019 when Radha Soami Satsang Beas sought relief from the then government.
The meeting in Shimla was attended by MLAs Suresh Kumar and Kamlesh Thakur, Additional Chief Secretary Omkar Chand Sharma, Advocate General Anoop Ratan and Law Secretary Sharad Kumar Lagwal. The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving the issue and ensuring the hospital remains functional for public benefit.
