Shimla: The youth in Himachal Pradesh who have been waiting for government jobs for the past two years can expect employment opportunities in the upcoming year.
Following the conclusion of investigations into several paper leak cases, the results for most examinations have been announced, with decisions pending on only five remaining exams.
The government plans to expedite new recruitment examinations through a single-window system. Recruitment for 1,423 positions under 80 post codes is also expected to move forward in the new year. This development is seen as a major relief for thousands of job seekers across the state.
Age relaxation proposal for affected candidates
The state government is considering offering a two-year age relaxation for candidates affected by the disbandment of the previous Staff Selection Commission.
A proposal in this regard has already been sent to the government by the State Selection Commission, with a decision expected soon.
The upcoming recruitment will include posts such as Junior Basic Teacher (JBT), Junior Office Assistant (JOA) and IT-related roles, with around 400 vacancies for JBT alone.
Once initiated, the recruitment process is anticipated to significantly alleviate unemployment concerns.
Secretary’s statement and CBT agency finalisation
A senior official of the Himachal Pradesh State Selection Commission said that previous recruitment processes were nearly complete. The recruitment for 80 post codes will commence promptly upon the government’s approval, he said.
Meanwhile, a new agency for conducting Computer-Based Tests (CBT) is likely to be finalised soon.
Earlier, the EdCIL agency was used for pilot recruitment but incurred a high cost of over Rs 35 lakh. To reduce expenses, the government is exploring alternative agencies, aiming for a permanent and budget-friendly solution in the coming year.
