Palampur: The CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), Palampur, is hosting a workshop on “Fundamentals of Laboratory Animals in Preclinical Research, Available Options, and Practical Training on Histopathological Techniques” from April 15 to 21, 2024. This workshop aims to equip young researchers with the necessary skills for high-quality research.
Dr Om Prakash Sharma, former chief CSIR-ARIIA, Palampur, delivered the keynote address on “Biomedical Research Laboratory Animals: A Glimpse into their Usage in Biomedical Research.”
Dr Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director of CSIR-IHBT, inaugurated the workshop and highlighted the institute’s ongoing work in the mentioned areas. He emphasized the significance of laboratory animals in research and urged participants to make the most of the opportunity to learn new techniques and contribute to societal advancement.
Prior to the workshop, Dr Vikram Patial provided detailed information about the event, mentioning its sponsorship by the Department of Science and Technology, government of India, under the “Accelerate Science” initiative.
Several institutes and universities across the country, including CSIR-IHBT, NDRI, CSIR-IIIM, IITs, and central and state universities, are participating in this workshop. Additionally, agreements were signed with two startups in the tissue culture and hydroponics sectors during the event.
