Dharamshala: People rejected the recent rally by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Dharamshala, indicating their lack of trust in the party’s rhetoric.
This was stated by Dr Rajesh Sharma, treasurer of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, who highlighted the stark contrast between the massive turnout of BJP leaders and the sparse attendance of the public at BJP national president JP Nadda’s rally in the Joravar Stadium.
Dr Sharma said that while the stadium was filled with BJP leaders vying for attention, the public was notably absent. This led the BJP to choose a smaller ground for their rally, which also failed to attract a significant crowd.
Dr Sharma also accused BJP MPs of neglecting the interests of Kangra-Chamba. He pointed out the lack of expansion in the railway network in Kangra, questioning why BJP MPs have not raised this issue before the Union government and why discrimination against Kangra-Chamba persists.
In response to concerns raised by the BJP, Dr Sharma assured that the government would allocate Rs 30 crore in time for the construction of the Central University campus in Dharamshala, and the work would progress swiftly.
He dismissed BJP’s worries, stating that they are shedding crocodile tears over the Central University, whereas when BJP was in power both in the state and at the Center, why didn’t they initiate the construction of the Central University?
Dr Sharma also lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, stating that the state government under his leadership is effectively addressing the issues of rural communities by reaching out to them directly.
He emphasized that while the defeated BJP has little to offer besides rallies, the government is actively engaging with people at the grassroots level.
