SOLAN: The raging fire that engulfed the NR Aroma factory located at Jharmajri in Baddi’s Barotiwala, an industrial area in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district, has finally been brought under control. However, the aftermath of the devastating inferno has left a sombre atmosphere as search operations persist to locate the missing workers.
As of now, the bodies of four workers have been recovered from the factory premises, taking the total number of those killed to five as a woman had died on Friday after jumping off the building’s third floor. She was declared dead at the PGI, Chandigarh. Nearly 10 workers are said to be missing.
Heart-wrenching scenes unfolded as family members of the fire victims gathered at the site, their eyes filled with tears as they anxiously awaited news of their loved ones. The search for the missing persons is continuing as the dousing of the fire facilitated safe access to the affected areas.
Himachal Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjay Kundu, who visited the scene, confirmed that the fire was now under control, and that forensic teams could now enter and collect crucial evidence.
The plant manager, apprehended on Friday night, disclosed that approximately 85 persons were present inside the building when the fire erupted, resulting in the demise of one woman. Currently, 30 workers are undergoing medical treatment in nearby hospitals.
Solan Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma said that the bodies of four workers were recovered from the factory premises, with search operations ongoing to locate any remaining individuals. The recovered bodies have been taken to the hospital for post-mortem examinations as part of the investigation.
