Dharamshala: Kishan Kapoor, Member of Parliament from the Kangra parliamentary constituency, stated that a mere Rs 30 crores is causing hindrance to the construction of the building in Central University’s ( CU ) Jadrangal. Kapoor applauded the efforts and expressed his support to people who are demonstrating on the issue in Dharamshala.

He asserted that the Chief Minister is misleading the public on the CU issue and emphasized that he has discussed the matter with the Union Minister for Environment and Forests. Kapoor argued that instead of making false claims, the Chief Minister should deposit the required Rs 30 crores for the project, as it has already been approved by the Central government.

Kapoor praised former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar for speaking the truth, highlighting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central government has fulfilled its commitments, and now it is the state government’s responsibility to allocate the funds and initiate the project. Accusations of bias against Kangra are being made by the Chief Minister, according to Kapoor. He stressed that the focus should be on working towards progress and development rather than engaging in political maneuvering.

The ongoing protest in Dharamshala at Kachehari Chowk has seen locals raising their voices against the delay in funding for CU. During the demonstration, women chanted hymns and demanded an allocation of Rs 30 crores for CU. The protesters asserted that they are prepared to face any challenges, including lathi charges or bullets, to ensure that CU’s construction takes place in Dharamshala.

The protest, which began on Wednesday, is being strategized for its duration, and leaders, including senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar and Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma, have been approached for support. As the public gears up for intensified efforts in the coming days, the Dharamshala citizens have been coordinating with leaders to garner additional backing for the CU project.
