The Newz Radar

Dharamshala:The Congress party in Himachal was accused of discrimination, particularly in the largest Kangra district by Ghanshyam Sharma, a senior member of the BJP’s state executive and the vice president of the Indian State Pensioners’ Association.

Sharma was talking to media persons at a press conference here on Wednesday. He expressed concern over the government’s inability to address the needs of the people, claiming a growing divide between those in power and the organizational structure.

He criticized the Congress-led government, stating that despite claiming to be a “government of happiness,” the reality is starkly different, with no section of the population experiencing true contentment.

Sharma highlighted ongoing strikes, including a protest by 45,000 electricity board workers’ families over the issue of OPS, and preparations for a potential strike by SMC teachers.

Furthermore, he pointed out the government’s negligence towards the employees and pensioners of Himachal Pradesh, despite being a state with both active and retired staff.

Sharma conveyed the Indian State Pensioners’ Association’s ultimatum to the government, demanding resolutions by January 26, failing which the association would initiate protests.

Addressing financial mismanagement in the state due to the impact of the pandemic, Sharma noted the freezing of the 12% DA owed to employees.

He highlighted the deteriorating financial condition of the state and referred to a recent government letter suggesting that funds for employee allowances were unavailable.

Regarding the Construction Workers’ Welfare Fund (CWWF), Sharma questioned the government’s ability to contribute its promised share of Rs 30 crores, casting doubts on the expectations from a government facing financial constraints. He labeled the government as a “de-notification,” entity, indicating a loss of faith in its commitment to addressing key issues.
