Under the agreement, tulip bulbs provided by NDMC will be multiplied and propagated by CSIR-IHBT. The planting material will then be supplied back to NDMC for large-scale cultivation and display in New Delhi’s gardens and green spaces. CSIR-IHBT has long been engaged in research on high-value flower crops, including tulips, focusing on bulb multiplication, production technologies, and management practices suited to Himalayan conditions.

This collaboration is expected to ensure systematic multiplication of tulip planting material, expand availability, and promote the wider adoption of tulip cultivation in urban landscapes. By combining CSIR-IHBT’s scientific expertise with NDMC’s extensive horticultural infrastructure, the initiative aims to enhance the floral beauty of New Delhi while advancing sustainable floriculture.

The partnership represents a new chapter in linking scientific research, quality planting material production, and urban horticulture, contributing to the promotion of ornamental plants and the development of innovative landscaping initiatives.
