Elevation of long-serving Mandi Zone Chief Engineer to the department’s top technical post brings recognition to the district

It is a moment of pride for the people of Mandi as Er. Upender Vaidya, who has been serving as Chief Engineer of the Jal Shakti Department’s Mandi Zone, has been elevated to the post of Engineer-in-Chief (E-in-C) of the Jal Shakti Department, Himachal Pradesh.
The elevation follows clearance by the Departmental Promotion Committee and approval by the state administration. Vaidya will assume charge of the new assignment with immediate effect at the department’s headquarters in Shimla.
The promotion marks a significant milestone in Vaidya’s professional career and also gives Mandi a prominent place in the state’s senior technical administration. After heading the Mandi Zone for a considerable period, he will now shoulder responsibility at the state level as the department’s top technical authority.
During his tenure as Chief Engineer, Mandi Zone, Vaidya was associated with the planning, execution and supervision of several important water supply, irrigation and allied Jal Shakti projects. His responsibilities covered critical public utility infrastructure and water-related works serving people across the region.
Known for his field-oriented approach, Vaidya has remained closely associated with the functioning of the department at the ground level. His experience in dealing with water supply, irrigation and other public infrastructure issues is expected to be valuable in his new state-level assignment.
As Engineer-in-Chief, Vaidya will provide technical leadership to the Jal Shakti Department and oversee its engineering and project implementation framework across Himachal Pradesh. The assignment comes at a time when the department is handling a number of major drinking-water, irrigation and centrally sponsored schemes, apart from large infrastructure projects.
His elevation is particularly significant for Mandi, where he has spent an important part of his professional career. The appointment has been welcomed as a proud moment for the district, with a senior officer associated with Mandi now moving to one of the most important technical positions in the state government.
