The Income Tax Office, Dalhousie, organized an awareness programme at Batt College of Nursing and ITI Bonkharimor to highlight the importance of filing Income Tax Returns (ITR) and promoting timely tax compliance.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Mrs. Shalini Bhargav Kaushal, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax–1, Chandigarh, and Mr. Keshav Kumar Anand, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Shimla Range, Shimla. It was led by Mr. Vineet Kumar, Income Tax Officer, Dalhousie.
The primary objective of the programme was to educate students and participants about the significance, benefits, and procedures of filing ITRs on time. Detailed information was shared about eligible taxpayers, advantages of timely filing, and the digital facilities offered by the Income Tax Department.
Participants were introduced to online tools such as the e-Filing Portal, Pre-filled Returns, Annual Information Statement (AIS), and Form 26AS. The session emphasized that regular ITR filing serves as proof of income and is beneficial for obtaining loans, visa processing, and claiming refunds for excess TDS.
The importance of voluntary and timely tax compliance was also discussed, with officials explaining that delays or failure to file returns can lead to notices, interest, penalties, and other complications.
Mr. Vineet Kumar addressed participants’ queries related to income tax and encouraged them to adopt responsible tax practices. The interactive session saw enthusiastic participation from students and trainees.
The department conveyed that timely and accurate tax compliance is not only a legal duty of every eligible taxpayer but also a vital contribution to nation-building.
Present at the event were Income Tax Inspector Uttam Kumar, Tax Assistants Rajesh Kumar, Shobhit Chawla, Pankaj Kumar, and Rajeev Kumar from the Dalhousie office; along with Batt College of Nursing officials including Admin Officer Rita Thakur, Superintendent Vishal Sekhri, Vice Principal Sunidhi, Lecturer Damini Gupta, ITI Vice Principal Manish Bakaria, and Instructor Manish Bharmauri. A large number of trainees attended the programme.
