The NCC unit of Government Arya College, Nurpur, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Anil Kumar Thakur and instructions from the Commanding Officer of 9 HP Battalion NCC, Dalhousie, organised a cleanliness rally and sanitation drive today.
Principal Dr. Thakur flagged off the rally, which saw enthusiastic participation from 160 cadets — including 110 cadets from Government Arya College, 18 from Montessori Cambridge School, Raja Ka Bagh, and 32 from Government Senior Secondary School, Nurpur.
Carrying the message of cleanliness and environmental protection, the cadets marched to Nurpur Fort, where they conducted a large‑scale cleanliness campaign. Plastic waste and other litter were collected and disposed of at designated sites, while the cadets also spread awareness about keeping public places clean.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Thakur said that cleanliness is not a one‑day campaign but a daily responsibility of every citizen. He praised the cadets’ efforts, noting that the youth can play a vital role in spreading awareness about sanitation and environmental conservation.
The programme was attended by NCC ANO Captain Surjeet Kumar, Prof. Manjeet Singh, Prof. Surjeet Singh, and PI staff member Havaldar Narendra Kumar of the 9 HP Battalion NCC.
The cadets displayed discipline, service spirit, and social responsibility, making the cleanliness drive a success and reinforcing the importance of collective action for a cleaner environment.
