In maiden visit to Himachal Pradesh, Vice-President Dhankhar to interact with students at NIT-Hamirpur

DHARAMSHALA: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar has reached Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh with his wife Sudesh Dhankhar on a one-day visit to participate in two programmes. He was welcomed at the Chandigarh airbase by Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and several other dignitaries.
The Vice-President subsequently landed at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) helipad at Hamirpur around 11.10 am. Apart from Himachal Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, Himachal Cabinet Minister Rajesh Dharmani, who is yet to be allocated a portfolio, greeted the Vice-President in Hamirpur. Notably, this is Dhankhar’s first visit to Himachal after assuming the Vice-President’s office.
Dhankhar will participate as chief guest in a programme of 500th centre of ‘Ek Se Shrestha’ at the Police Ground in Hamirpur. Governors Dattatreya and Purohit are accompanying Dhankhar to Hamirpur.
A crowd of people has gathered to welcome the Vice-President, who will also interact with NIT students at 2 pm on the topic ‘Role of Youth in Developed India-2027’ at the institute’s auditorium. The Vice-President’s wife Sudesh Dhankhar will visit an anganwadi centre in Sujanpur.
The Vice-President will return to Delhi around 4 pm. Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said all necessary arrangements had been made in Hamirpur in view of the visit of the high-profile visit. SP Aakriti Sharma said tight security arrangements had been made in Hamirpur, NIT and its surroundings.
