Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repswal has directed that stringent legal action be ensured against individuals involved in drug trafficking and sales, along with proceedings against properties acquired through such illegal activities.
Chairing the district-level Narco Coordination Committee (NCORD) meeting at the National Informatics Centre’s video conferencing hall, the DC reviewed ongoing efforts to curb narcotics and awareness campaigns highlighting the harmful effects of drugs. He instructed officials to intensify enforcement and awareness measures.
Repswal also emphasized strict compliance with provisions under the COTPA Act, directing SDMs, police officers, and concerned authorities to curb illegal tobacco sales and smoking in public places. He further ordered action against the sale of chewing tobacco products, unauthorized practitioners, and illegal Ayurvedic medicine sellers.
The DC stressed effective use of trained human resources for awareness drives and approved the installation of digital screens at popular tourist destinations like Banikhet and Dalhousie to spread anti-drug messages.
The meeting was attended by SP Vijay Kumar Saklani, SDM Chirag Sharma, Assistant Commissioner (State Taxes & Excise) Rahul, Deputy Director Agriculture Dr. Bhupender Singh, District Health Program Officer Dr. Karn Hitaishi, District Welfare Officer Manjul Thakur, District Ayush Officer Dr. Anita Sharma, Principal of Govt. PG College Rakesh Rathore, Sahastrabdi Polytechnic Institute’s Punit Mahajan, and OSD Education Umakant Anand among others.
