Joy swept through Indora as local talent Milli returned home after captaining the Indian women’s team at the Under‑21 World Korfball Championship held in Selangor, Malaysia. Her achievement of representing the nation and leading the squad on the international stage has brought immense pride to Himachal Pradesh.
In the absence of MLA Malendra Rajan, who is currently in Ladakh for party work, his wife Anju Wala visited Milli’s home to personally congratulate her and her family. She praised Milli’s dedication, hard work, and perseverance, noting that she has become the first player from Himachal to captain the Indian women’s korfball team, a milestone in the state’s sporting history.
Anju Wala said Milli’s success is not only a matter of pride for Indora but also an inspiration for other daughters and youth of the region. She expressed confidence that Milli will continue to shine in the future, bringing glory to both the state and the country.
Family members including her grandfather Baldev Singh, grandmother Sudesh Devi, father Kanwar Singh, mother Jeevan Thakur, uncle Karan Singh, aunt Neetu Thakur, and brother Viraj Thakur were present to celebrate her homecoming.
The felicitation was also attended by DSP Sanjeev Kumar, Women’s Block President Sunita Katoch, former Deputy Pradhan Manohar Singh, Ranjit Pathania, Youth Congress President Vijendra Pathania, and Neeraj, among others.
Milli’s achievement has not only illuminated Indora but has also strengthened Himachal’s presence on the international sporting map, inspiring a new generation of athletes.
