Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday assured students that the Centre stands firmly with them in the wake of the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, stressing that those responsible for compromising the integrity of the examination must face the strictest legal action.
Addressing the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Parliamentary Party during its ‘Mangal Milan’ meeting ahead of the second day of the Monsoon Session, the Prime Minister described the paper leak as a matter of serious concern and said there should be zero tolerance for such offences.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the Prime Minister emphasised that examination-related fraud should not be politicised and that the focus must remain on ensuring justice for students and safeguarding the credibility of the country’s examination system.
Modi also called for close coordination between the Centre and state governments to identify those behind paper leak incidents and ensure swift and stringent action under the law. He further said the government would consult legal experts to strengthen the legal framework and put in place effective safeguards to prevent such incidents in the future.
Rijiju said the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting students’ interests and restoring confidence in the examination process through decisive legal and administrative measures.
