Major Action Against Drug Traffickers in Nurpur

In a decisive move against drug trafficking, Nurpur Police have placed two habitual offenders under preventive detention under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS Act), 1988. Acting on the proposal of Nurpur Police, the Home Department of Himachal Pradesh issued detention orders under Section 3(1) of the Act. Both accused are being sent to District Jail Dharamshala (Kangra).

Details of the Accused:

1. Namveer Singh, son of Kans Raj, resident of Tamota village, Indora Tehsil, Kangra District.
   • Cases:
     • FIR No. 161/2024, Indora Police Station – 7.23g heroin/chitta
     • FIR No. 188/2025, Indora Police Station – 9.42g heroin/chitta & ₹60,000 cash
2. Rajinder Kumar, son of Bachan Das, resident of Majra village, Indora Tehsil, Kangra District.
   • Cases:
     • FIR No. 250/2018, Indora Police Station – 9.42g heroin/chitta
     • FIR No. 73/2025, Damtal Police Station – 11.40g heroin/chitta

Police Statement:

Considering their repeated criminal activities and the harmful impact on youth, this preventive action was taken in the interest of public safety. Nurpur Police reaffirmed that their strict crackdown on drug traffickers will continue.
