Congress state spokesperson and Director of Himachal Pradesh State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation, Puneet Malli, has accused BJP leaders of indulging in “political opportunism” over alleged irregularities in donations made to the Ram Temple. He said the BJP appears more concerned with exploiting the issue for politics than safeguarding the faith of devotees.
Malli emphasized that Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has already made it clear that every rupee offered in the name of God must be accounted for. “If any wrongdoing is found, the guilty must face strict punishment under the law. Congress’s stand is crystal clear—no one is above the law, and no one will be shielded,” he stated.
He challenged BJP leaders to clarify whether they support an impartial investigation. “If BJP’s record is clean, it should welcome the probe instead of fearing it. Issuing political statements before the inquiry concludes misleads the public and stirs religious sentiments, which is deeply unfortunate,” Malli said.
Highlighting that the matter concerns the faith of millions, Malli asserted that politicizing such issues demeans responsible politics. “This is not about any party—it is about the trust of the people. No matter how influential the culprit, they must face fair and tough action,” he added.
Malli further questioned why BJP is targeting those demanding transparency when nationwide concerns are being raised about misuse of donations and financial accountability. “The public today seeks responsibility and transparency, not emotional slogans,” he remarked.
He concluded by reiterating that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh stands firmly for the rule of law. “Whether it involves religious institutions, public funds, or matters of faith, the policy is clear—no guilty person will be spared. BJP should stop blame games and cooperate with the investigation, because no political agenda can be bigger than faith.”
