In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Nurpur Police in Himachal Pradesh have arrested three suspects linked to an interstate drug network and seized 274 grams of heroin (commercial quantity) from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, the CIA team of Nurpur Police intercepted a Swift car (PB06U‑7122) near Bhadroa in the Damtal area on July 7. During the search, officers recovered the heroin from a black sling bag belonging to Kunal Arora (31) of Amritsar. Two others — Harry (26) of Batala and Mohit Kumar (37) of Amritsar — were also taken into custody.

An FIR (No. 116/2026) has been registered under Sections 21, 25 & 29 of the NDPS Act at Damtal Police Station. Preliminary investigation indicates the accused were part of a larger interstate smuggling network operating between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Police are now tracing the source of the contraband and identifying other members involved.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Nurpur, confirmed that the operation was part of the district’s ongoing campaign against drug abuse and trafficking.
