Nurpur Police Bust Interstate Drug Network, Seize 154 Grams of Heroin

In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the CIA Nurpur police team recovered 154 grams of heroin (chitta) from two youths in the Damtal area.

During routine patrolling and naka checking in Kandwal, Lodhwa, Bhadroya, and Damtal, the police received a reliable tip-off that two suspects on a motorcycle were waiting near Hilltop Durga Mata Temple, Damtal, to sell heroin. Acting swiftly, the team raided the spot in the presence of independent witnesses and searched a Hero Splendor motorcycle (JK08L-4514). The contraband was found hidden beneath the seat.

An FIR (No. 106/2026) has been registered at Police Station Damtal under Sections 21, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act against the following accused:

  1. Paras (25), son of Kulwinder Singh, resident of Geeta Bhawan, Mohalla Islamabad, District Gurdaspur, Punjab.
  2. Vijay Kumar (28), son of Shingara Ram, resident of Village Vahamani, Post Bahrampur, District Gurdaspur, Punjab.

Police officials confirmed that investigations are underway to trace the source, supply chain, and other individuals linked to this interstate drug network.

The Nurpur Police reiterated their commitment to making society drug-free and appealed to the public to share any information related to narcotics on helpline number 112, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
