Farmers, JCB Owners Face Trouble as Gaggal Petrol Pump Stops Fuel Supply in Containers

Farmers and machine owners in Gaggal are facing difficulties after staff at the local petrol pump refused to provide diesel in bottles, cans, or other containers, citing strict instructions from the pump management.

A JCB owner, who operates two machines with monthly installments of ₹55,000 and ₹75,000 respectively, said he was forced to return without fuel. “If the machines remain idle, how will I pay the installments?” he asked, highlighting the financial strain caused by the restriction.

The issue has also hit farmers hard during the peak agricultural season. With tractors, pump sets, and other equipment requiring diesel, many farmers are now compelled to drive their small tractors directly to the petrol pump, wasting both time and fuel.

Local residents have urged the administration to intervene and find a practical solution that balances regulatory compliance with the needs of farmers and machine owners. They stressed that agriculture and construction work should not suffer due to rigid rules and demanded an immediate resolution.
