Dharamshala: A 48-year-old Sunita Devi, resident of Majra Village, Tehsil Indora, District Kangra, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison and fined one lakh rupees by Additional District and Session Judge Kanta Verma. The verdict, delivered last week on December 30, 2023, follows an investigation led by ASI Hameed Mohammad from the Narcotic Cell.
The case uncovered Sunita Devi’s involvement in the illegal trade of PYN-SPAS PLUS capsules, concealed within her residence. A thorough search revealed five polythene packets, each containing 100 capsules, and an additional packet with 11 capsules, totaling 511 capsules. The seized contraband was hidden between an almirah in the right room corner and a drawer on the lower side of her house.
In addition to the narcotics, a sum of Rs. 7100/- in various denominations was recovered, underscoring the financial aspect of the illicit trade.
Deputy District Attorney Soham Kaushal, presiding over the case, presented 26 witnesses, contributing to the conviction of Sunita Devi.
This verdict sends a strong message against drug-related activities in the region.
