SHIMLA: The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government of Himachal Pradesh has taken three major decisions in a cabinet meeting held on the first day of New Year. It has been decided to open a modern educational institution for differently abled children and to give a fixed income to the youth by giving them land for setting up a solar power project for the purpose of providing self-employment to the youth. Apart from these, it has also been decided to give ST status to Hattee community of Sirmaur district.
CM Sukhu held a press conference and informed about the decisions taken at the meeting. He said there is no standard educational institution for differently abled children in Himachal yet where they could get quality school education and enroll for further studies. He said the government has made plans for them in the New Year.
The government has decided to create a big modern institution in which integrated education would be provided of school as well as college level. He said that on the first day of 2023, the government had implemented the Sukhashraya Yojana for orphan children and brought 4,000 children under its ambit.
Apart from this, the government also decided to implement the second phase of the Rajiv Gandhi Start-up Yojana for unemployed youth. Under this, on giving three bighas of land for a solar power project, an unemployed youth will get a minimum income of Rs 20,000 per month. The money will be given according to the capacity of the project.
For example, for providing land for setting up a 100-watt solar power project on three bighas, Rs 20,000 will be given every month. For this, security money of Rs 4 lakh will have to be deposited. Under this, projects up to 500 watts will be installed.
The CM said the state government had also decided to implement the law made by the Central Government to give ST status to the Hattee community. He will formally announce its implementation in Nahan on January 3. The CM said a clarification regarding this was sought from the Centre in September, which had been provided now.
