After a closely contested election, Vandana Chaddha is poised to take charge as the new Chairperson of the Dalhousie Municipal Council. The council comprises nine wards, where BJP-supported candidates faced tough competition from the group led by former council president Manoj Chaddha.
Following a neck-and-neck contest, the Manoj Chaddha group emerged victorious, with Ward No. 4 candidate Praveen Kumar winning through a tie-breaking toss. Dalhousie recorded an impressive 78% voter turnout, reflecting strong public participation.
As the chairperson’s post is reserved for women, Vandana Chaddha, wife of Manoj Chaddha, is expected to assume the leadership role of the council.
Earlier, both groups had secured victories in four wards each, but the toss win in Ward 4 gave the Manoj Chaddha group the decisive edge.
Winning Candidates:
- Ward 1: Reena Jaryal
- Ward 2: Ram Singh (Bablu)
- Ward 3: Talwinder (Sahil Pama)
- Ward 4: Praveen Kumar
- Ward 5: Vandana Chaddha
- Ward 6: Rajni Devi
- Ward 7: Vandana Devi
- Ward 8: Kumari Pallavi
- Ward 9: Tilak Raj Kapoor
The results highlight a spirited democratic exercise in Dalhousie, with citizens turning out in large numbers to shape their local governance.
