Senior BJP legislator and former minister Bikram Thakur has launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over the Congress manifesto released for the Dharamshala Municipal Corporation elections.

Calling the CM’s claims “hollow and misleading,” Thakur alleged that the Congress government is staging a drama of development merely for electoral gains, while the ground reality tells a different story.

He questioned the government’s intent, asking why the ₹30 crore sanctioned for the construction of the Central University (CU) has not been released yet. Thakur claimed that withholding this amount is clear evidence of the Sukhu government deliberately stalling Dharamshala’s key projects due to political vendetta.

Taking a swipe at the timing, Thakur remarked that Congress suddenly remembered Dharamshala’s development only with elections approaching, while in its tenure the government focused on blocking funds and halting existing projects. He further alleged that instead of accelerating Smart City initiatives funded by the Modi-led central government, the state government created hurdles.

Labeling the Congress manifesto a “bundle of lies,” Thakur compared it to the party’s earlier “10 guarantees,” which he said turned out to be empty promises. He urged the people of Dharamshala to see through Congress’s “false advertisements and deceptive pledges.”

Thakur concluded that the BJP will approach the public with “solid evidence of development and a commitment to service,” asserting that voters are now weary of Congress’s propaganda and hollow assurances.
