Meeting of Van Dhan Vikas Kendra held in Holi, focus on livelihood enhancement

A meeting of the Van Dhan Vikas Kendra was organized on April 24, 2026, at the Forest Rest House in Holi, under Bharmaur subdivision. The meeting was chaired by Additional District Magistrate Bharmour, Vikas Sharma.

On the occasion, Van Dhan Surveyors Manorama Devi and Sanjay Kumar explained that the Van Dhan Vikas Yojana is a significant initiative aimed at empowering tribal communities by adding value to minor forest produce and making them self-reliant. The scheme seeks to integrate traditional knowledge with modern technology for processing and packaging fruits, spices, and medicinal herbs, thereby increasing the income of tribal communities.

They informed that each center/cluster includes 15 self-help groups, connecting tribal gatherers. Under the scheme, primary processing and value addition of minor forest produce is carried out to ensure better returns for products collected from forests.

The meeting was attended by 26 members, including the committee head. Detailed discussions were held on the activities being run under the Van Dhan Vikas Kendra. All members proposed the establishment of a center in Holi to streamline the collection of various products and related activities.

Officials and employees from the Forest Department, along with the Block Development Officer, also participated in the meeting.
