To ensure public convenience and safety, District Magistrate Mukesh Repswal has invoked Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and issued detailed traffic control orders for the Dalhousie Municipal Council area.
The orders, based on recommendations from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate after consultations with stakeholders, introduce several measures to strengthen traffic management:
- One-Way Routes:
- Bus Stand–Subhash Chowk–Gandhi Chowk (via Subhash Road) to Bus Stand (via GNPS School Road) will remain one-way for all vehicles except two-wheelers.
- Subhash Chowk (entry)–Court Road–Potrain Road–Subhash Chowk (exit) will also be one-way, exempting ambulances, two-wheelers, administrative and press vehicles in emergencies.
- Heavy Vehicles & Tourist Buses: Entry and exit timings fixed at 10:30 AM–2:00 PM and 6:00 PM–7:00 AM.
- School Transport:
- Sacred Heart School buses allowed direct routes between 8:05–8:20 AM and 3:40–3:50 PM.
- Guru Nanak Public School buses permitted between 8:50–9:10 AM.
- Restricted Zones:
- Garam Road closed to all vehicles from 3:30–5:00 PM, except residents and hotel guests.
- Mall Road (GPO to Dalhousie Parking near Bhandari Palace) completely closed to vehicles.
- Multiple stretches including Khajjiar Road, Panchpulla Road, CB Road, Thandi Sadak, and Bus Stand–Subhash Chowk marked as No Parking Zones.
- Parking Regulations: Vehicles only allowed in designated yellow-marked areas along Thandi Sadak, Potrain Road, Mall Road, MES Road, Subhash Bauli, and Jandrigat Road.
- Heavy Vehicle Restrictions: No parking for heavy vehicles at Bus Stand–GPO (Church Balloon Road), GPO–Dhoop Ghadi, and Thandi Sadak. Taxi unions permitted to park only two taxis at Bus Stand, Subhash Chowk, and GPO at any time.
- Construction Material: Dumping on roads prohibited. Materials may only be unloaded between 9:00 PM–7:00 AM at designated spots.
- Speed Limit: Except for emergency and official duty vehicles, all others must adhere to a maximum speed of 30 km/h.
These regulations will take effect from April 25, 2026, and remain in force throughout the year.
