The State Election Commission has declared elections for 51 Urban Local Bodies across Himachal Pradesh, including 4 Municipal Corporations (Dharamshala, Palampur, Mandi and Solan), 25 Municipal Councils, and 22 Nagar Panchayats. Polling will be held on May 17, 2026, with voting scheduled to conclude by 3:00 PM.
Key Dates
- Nomination Filing: April 29, April 30, and May 2
- Scrutiny of Nominations: May 4
- Withdrawal of Nominations: Till May 6
- Polling: May 17 (till 3:00 PM)
Results of these election will be declared on 31 May 2026.
The Commission clarified that Panchayat elections (rural areas) will be conducted separately, and their dates are yet to be finalized. For now, the Model Code of Conduct applies only to the four Municipal Corporations and other urban bodies where the election notification has come into effect from today.
This announcement sets the stage for a crucial electoral exercise in the state’s urban governance, while rural Panchayat polls remain pending.
