The traditional Baisakhi Fair, celebrated every year on April 13 and 14 at Yol Bazaar, Dharamshala, is set to regain its former grandeur. Once renowned for its vibrancy and festive spirit, the fair had lost some of its charm in recent years. However, the newly formed Trade Association Executive Committee has resolved to restore it to its original glory.

Association President Sunny Bhatia and Vice President Raman Chaudhary announced that, with the collective support of local traders, this year’s fair will be organized on a grand scale. Stalls will line the market from Ghari Pul to Mankasah Gate, amusement rides will be installed, and all traditional fair activities will be revived.

A major highlight will be the wrestling competition (Dangal), held near the Babri Temple, continuing the fair’s legacy. Adding to the festive atmosphere, two traditional processions with drums and nagaras will parade through the market on both days.

Another special attraction will be the ‘Tamk’ stage near the bus stand, where anyone can showcase their talent by playing traditional instruments.

Excitement among traders is palpable, with a shared goal of celebrating Baisakhi as a grand festival across the entire market. The community hopes this historic fair will reclaim its identity and sparkle, once again becoming a proud cultural landmark of Yol.
