The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Chamba organized a one-day awareness and training program at Government Polytechnic, Chamba, aimed at educating students and participants on disaster preparedness and emergency safety protocols.
Held in remembrance of the devastating 1905 Kangra earthquake, the event emphasized the importance of vigilance and readiness in the face of natural disasters. Participants received hands-on training in first aid, evacuation strategies, and safety measures to be followed during emergencies such as earthquakes, landslides, and floods.
To further enhance community outreach, IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials were distributed among attendees. DDMA representatives encouraged participants to share this knowledge with their families and communities to help minimize loss of life and property during disasters.
The program reinforced the critical role of awareness, preparedness, and community participation in building a resilient society.
