Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior state spokesperson Trilok Kapoor has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving a massive financial package of ₹3,920 crore under the ‘Pride of Hills’ scheme and ‘Special Assistance to State for Capital Investment’ (SASCI). Kapoor said this allocation will prove to be a milestone in Himachal Pradesh’s development journey.
Countering the Congress government’s narrative of “neglect by the Centre,” Kapoor presented figures to highlight the difference in support:
- During the 10-year tenure of the UPA government under Manmohan Singh, Himachal received only ₹18,000 crore.
- In contrast, under Modi’s leadership, the state has already received more than ₹97,000 crore in financial assistance.
Kapoor emphasized that this represents 530% more support compared to Congress, reaffirming the Modi government’s commitment to Himachal’s progress.
Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and his associates, Kapoor accused them of misleading the public by spreading confusion over the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG). “The Chief Minister and his team have been deceiving the people with false claims. For the misleading statements made about RDG and central aid, they owe a public apology to the people of Himachal,” he said. Kapoor alleged that instead of utilizing record central funds for development, the Sukhu government is wasting time in hollow rhetoric.
He added that while the Centre is opening its treasury for Himachal, the state government is stalling development projects and pushing the state towards decline. Kapoor warned that the public will no longer fall for Congress’s “victim card” and propaganda.
“This historic assistance has once again proven the Modi government’s unwavering commitment to Himachal. The entire state is indebted to Prime Minister Modi and the Centre for this generous support,” Kapoor concluded.
