The Bharmour–Kugti road, maintained under the Public Works Department, was suddenly blocked on Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. due to a massive landslide near Kanju Morh. The landslide brought traffic to a complete halt, leaving vehicles stranded on both sides and causing severe inconvenience to passengers.
Bus services operating towards Kugti were also forced to stop at Bharmour, further affecting travel. Upon receiving information, the PWD team promptly reached the site and launched restoration work on a war footing with the help of heavy machinery.
After continuous efforts, the road was successfully cleared by around 8:30 p.m., allowing traffic movement to resume smoothly.
Junior Engineer Dhaniram of the PWD informed that huge boulders had fallen onto the road, which had to be blasted before the route could be restored. He confirmed that the department’s timely action ensured the road was reopened the same evening.
