Two persons were k*illed and two others seriously injured in a head-on collision between a private bus and a car near Pandoh Dam in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred on the Mandi–Kullu National Highway when the two vehicles collided with great force. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled.
According to reports, four persons were travelling in the car. Two of them died on the spot, while the other two sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Shashank Sharma (23), son of Vinod Kumar, a resident of Majwan in Baldwara, and Gayatri Devi (22), daughter of Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Rehali Tanda in Mandi district.
The injured, identified as Kashmir and Diksha, are stated to be in serious condition and are undergoing treatment.
Police said the private bus was on its way from Mandi to Kullu, while the car was coming from the opposite direction when the collision took place near Pandoh.
Superintendent of Police, Mandi, Vinod Kumar, confirmed the incident and said a case has been registered. “The exact cause of the accident is being ascertained. Overspeeding or negligence is suspected,” he said, adding that the injured are being provided necessary medical care.
