Nurpur Police Tightens Grip on Drug Traffickers, Habitual Offender Sent to Jail under PIT ND&PS Act

In a decisive move against drug trafficking, Nurpur Police has taken preventive action under the PIT ND&PS Act, 1988 against a habitual offender.

The accused, Lucky (34), son of Raghunath, resident of Village Ghar, Post Office Harsar, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra, has been placed under preventive detention as per Section 3(1) of the Act.

Police records show that Lucky has three prior cases registered under the ND&PS Act at Jawali and Nurpur police stations. Despite repeated arrests and legal proceedings, he continued to engage in illegal drug trade.

Following the detention order issued by the Home Department of Himachal Pradesh Government, the accused was taken into custody on March 6, 2026 and sent to District Jail Dharamshala, Kangra, where he will remain under preventive detention for three months.

Nurpur Police has reiterated its commitment to maintain strict action against those involved in the illegal drug trade, ensuring that such operations are curbed effectively in the future.
