Police in Nurpur have achieved a breakthrough in a recent motorcycle theft case, arresting two accused and recovering the stolen vehicle.

The case was registered on March 2, 2026, at Police Station Noorpur based on a complaint filed by Rajneesh Kumar of village Kamanala, Tehsil Noorpur, District Kangra. During investigation, police discovered links between this case (FIR No. 72/26) and an earlier theft case (FIR No. 66/26, dated February 25, 2026).

Accused Abhishek Kumar, son of Tarvij Singh of village Tipri, District Chamba, who was already in judicial custody in connection with the earlier case, was found to be involved in the March 2 theft as well. His associate, Anil Kaundal, son of Amrik Singh of Jasur, Tehsil Noorpur, was interrogated professionally, and based on evidence and technical analysis, police confirmed his role in the crime. The stolen motorcycle was recovered from his possession, and he has been formally arrested under FIR No. 72/26.

Police noted that the duo is part of an organized gang involved in vehicle thefts across Noorpur and adjoining areas, including the border with Chamba district. Further investigation is underway, with Abhishek Kumar to be taken into police custody from judicial remand for questioning.

The Noorpur police have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to help curb crime effectively.
