Police District Nurpur has achieved significant success in tackling online cyber fraud, recovering ₹3 lakh in one case and arresting a prime accused from Surat, Gujarat, in another.
Case Details
- Case 1 (FIR No. 95/23, dated 23.03.2023, Section 420 IPC):
Complainant Harbans Singh, resident of Fatehpur, Kangra, was duped of ₹3 lakh through a WhatsApp call by unidentified fraudsters. Persistent investigation enabled police to recover and return the full amount to the victim. - Case 2 (FIR No. 41/24, dated 18.01.2024, Section 420 IPC):
Complainant Shimla Devi, resident of Nurpur, Kangra, was cheated of ₹3,20,000 via Google Pay transactions after receiving fraudulent phone calls. During investigation, the prime accused, Mahabir Kumar of West Champaran, Bihar, fled to Gujarat. After sustained pursuit, the police team successfully arrested him in Surat.
Investigation Strategy
A special team was constituted under Police District Nurpur, which employed technical analysis, digital tracking, and scrutiny of bank transactions, while conducting raids across states. Their continuous efforts led to both recovery and arrest.
Ongoing Probe
Interrogation of the arrested accused is underway, and police are investigating the involvement of other individuals in these fraud cases.
