The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Bharmour unit has strongly opposed the merger of the Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Bhramour.
ABVP Bhramour President Abhishek Sharma and State Executive Member Anshul Patial informed that the state government has proposed merging the Government Senior Secondary School with the Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Bhramour. As a result, the girls’ school has been merged into the boys’ school, a move ABVP has condemned.
Established in 1955 in memory of revered saint Shri Jai Krishan Giri Maharaj Ji, the Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School is not merely an educational institution but a symbol of faith, respect, and commitment to girls’ education in the region. ABVP leaders said that merging such a historically and emotionally significant institution hurts local sentiments.
The organization believes this decision will negatively impact girls’ education, safety, and facilities. With the merger, student numbers will rise, putting additional pressure on academic quality and management.
ABVP has demanded that the government immediately reconsider the decision and allow both schools to function independently. The council warned that if the decision is not withdrawn, it will be compelled to launch a phased democratic movement.
