The holy Purushottam (Adhik) month, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, concluded on June 15 with special rituals and prayers. Chief Acharya of Radha Krishna Temple, Sanatan Dharma Sabha Dalhousie Cantonment, Pandit Aman Shastri, stated that this sacred month holds immense significance for chanting, penance, charity, fasting, and devotion to Lord Vishnu. However, marriages and other auspicious ceremonies remain prohibited during this period.

With the conclusion of Purushottam month, all auspicious and social ceremonies including marriages, housewarmings, naming rituals, mundan, and sacred thread ceremonies will resume from June 16, 2026. Preparations across the region have already gained momentum, with marriage venues, dharamshalas, bands, and related businesses witnessing renewed enthusiasm.

Pandit Shastri explained that scriptures such as the Padma Purana describe Purushottam month as a manifestation of Lord Krishna himself, and that pious deeds performed during this time yield manifold blessings. Throughout the month, devotees actively participated in worship, bhajan‑kirtan, satsangs, and religious rituals.

He further highlighted that the upcoming period will be spiritually significant, with festivals like Devshayani Ekadashi, Guru Purnima, Nag Panchami, Raksha Bandhan, Shri Krishna Janmashtami, and Ganesh Chaturthi to be celebrated with devotion and joy. The month of Shravan will also see special worship dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Extending his greetings to the community, Pandit Aman Shastri urged everyone to uphold dharma, traditions, and Sanatan values, while wishing prosperity, happiness, and auspicious beginnings for all.
