In a significant decision, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has given final approval to include and release the enhanced stipend for Junior Residents (Academic) working in various government medical colleges of the state in the Budget 2026.
The increased stipend was earlier announced during the annual function “Stimulus 2025” at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla. The Chief Minister has now assured that the decision to raise the stipend will be formally implemented from the Budget Session 2026.
During discussions with representatives of the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of IGMC Shimla, the Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment and assured that the promised hike would be executed smoothly and effectively.
The RDA of IGMC Shimla expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister for fulfilling the long-pending demand of Junior Residents across the state.

Rs 40000 first year
Rs 45000 second year
Rs 50000 third year
