Major action by Nurpur Police against drug mafia – 1 kg 20 grams of charas recovered – 2 arrested

Police District Nurpur, while continuously carrying out its campaign against charas and chitta, has achieved another major success. Under this campaign, on 23.01.26, during patrolling near the rain shelter at Harsar Bus Stop under Police Station Jawali, action was taken against drug traffickers.

During the patrol, the police successfully recovered 1 kg 20 grams of charas from the possession of:

  • Pawan Kumar, son of Kuldeep Kumar, resident of village Harsar, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, and
  • Rakhi, wife of Ashok, resident of House No. 11, Ward No. 01, Sapera Basti, Doraha, Ludhiana, Punjab.

On this basis, a case has been registered against the above-mentioned accused at Police Station Jawali under Sections 20, 29, 61, and 85 of the ND&PS Act. The accused have been arrested as per rules and further investigation is underway.

During the investigation, it was found that accused Pawan Kumar is a habitual and seasoned criminal, against whom one case under the ND&PS Act and 11 cases under the Excise Act have already been registered at Police Station Jawali.

The anti-drug campaign of District Police Nurpur will continue in the future as well. District Police Nurpur appeals to the general public to support the police in the fight against drugs and cooperate in making their area drug-free.
