Four residents of Gagret subdivision in Una district of Himachal Pradesh lost their lives in a devastating road accident in the early hours of Saturday morning near Adda Dosadka in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district. One person was critically injured in the collision.
The deceased have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh (45), son of Harnam Singh; Sushil Kumar (46), son of Desh Raj; Brij Kumar (38), son of Mohinder Kumar; and Arun Kumar (45), son of Gurpal Singh — all residents of Challet village in the Gagret subdivision of Una district.
Another youth, Amit Kumar, who was travelling with them, sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur, where his condition remains critical.
On Way to Amritsar Airport
According to police, the group had left their village around 4:30 am in their Hyundai i-20 car (HP-72-B-6869) and was heading towards Amritsar International Airport. Amit Kumar was scheduled to catch a flight to Dubai.
Bus Dragged Car for Nearly 200 Metres
Near Adda Dosadka, their car collided head-on with a Punjab Roadways bus coming from the Dasuya side. Eyewitnesses said the impact was so severe that the bus dragged the car for nearly 200 metres, completely mangling the vehicle.
Dense fog in the area during the early morning hours is believed to have contributed to the accident.
Police Launch Rescue Operation
On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The bodies were recovered from the wreckage and sent for post-mortem to the hospital.
Leaders Express Condolences
BJP leader from Gagret Sushil Kalia and former Gagret MLA Rajesh Thakur expressed deep grief over the tragic incident. They conveyed their condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured Amit Kumar.
The tragic accident has cast a pall of gloom over Challet village and the entire Gagret region of Una district, where the victims were well known.
