Nurpur Police District carried out a major crackdown on illegal mining on the night of January 9, 2026, tightening the grip on mining mafias operating in sensitive areas.

  • The operation was conducted near the Beas river in Repatan Mand Bahadurpur (Fatehpur Police Station area), Thakurdhara Mand (Indora Police Station area), and under Nurpur and Damtal Police Stations.
  • Vehicles coming from Punjab for illegal mining were intercepted.
  • In this action, police seized 6 tractors, 4 dumpers, and 1 JCB machine used in unlawful mining activities.
  • All 11 vehicles were booked under the Mining Act, taken into police custody, and challans have been sent to the Hon’ble Court for further legal proceedings.
  • Authorities confirmed that the anti-mining campaign will continue in the future, with strict enforcement against offenders.
