In a motivating session at Government Senior Secondary School at Jassur in Kangra’s Nurpur, DSP and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Chandra Pal Singh inspired students with practical guidance on academic success and personal discipline during the Udaan career counselling programme.
Organised by The Newz Radar in association with Aarni University-Kangra, the initiative aims to provide career awareness, study strategies and life skills to students in remote and semi-urban regions of Himachal Pradesh.
Lauding The Newz Radar-Aarni University initiative, Chandra Pal Singh urged students to start preparing for their future as early as Class 9. Sharing his “six-step success formula”, he emphasised the importance of smart, structured study and consistent self-discipline. He advised students to make a timetable, step out of their comfort zone, take initiative, wake up by 6 am, follow a night routine ending at 11 pm and maintain this routine consistently for at least seven days.
Highlighting a balanced approach to competition, Chandra Pal Singh stressed that students should focus on self-improvement rather than comparing themselves to others. “See where you need to improve, learn from others, but never let envy guide your actions,” he said. He also highlighted key principles for effective learning: honesty, asking teachers repeatedly until doubts are cleared, and prioritising preparation for major examinations.
Chandra Pal Singh stressed the importance of subjects such as history for understanding mistakes of the past and drawing life lessons, and urged students to critically analyse the relevance of information for future application. On modern distractions, he warned against excessive phone use, noting that while technology was essential during the pandemic, overuse can harm focus and productivity.
The programme began with a ceremonial welcome of the chief guest with a shawl and cap. Sunil Chadha, Executive Editor of The Newz Radar, introduced the initiative, while the Aarni University counsellor offered additional career guidance. The school principal thanked the organisers and guest speakers for their valuable contribution.
Students actively engaged with the speakers, asking questions about study techniques, career planning and goal setting. Teachers and organisers described the session as deeply motivating, emphasising the importance of structured guidance and real-life role models in shaping students’ aspirations.
The Udaan initiative continues to empower students across Himachal Pradesh, helping them bridge the gap between ambition and opportunity while instilling discipline, focus and life skills necessary for future success.
