Human intelligence and good decision-making will always remain superior to artificial intelligence, Ashish Kumar, senior counsellor at Aarni University, Kangra, said while addressing students during a career guidance session at Green Field School in Chamba’s Sihunta on Friday.

The session was organised under Udaan, an ongoing student outreach initiative of The Newz Radar in association with Aarni University, aimed at promoting awareness about education, career planning and personal development among students in remote and semi-urban regions of Himachal Pradesh.

Addressing an attentive gathering of school students, Ashish Kumar underlined that while artificial intelligence and automation are rapidly transforming industries, it is human intelligence — the ability to think ethically, creatively and empathetically — that will define future leadership.

“Technology can process data, but it cannot replace human judgment, compassion and responsibility,” he said, encouraging students to see AI as a tool rather than a replacement for human capability. He stressed that careers of the future would demand a “strong foundation of critical thinking, communication skills and emotional intelligence”, alongside technical knowledge.

During the interactive session, students were guided on career opportunities across emerging and traditional fields, including management, sciences, law, healthcare, engineering, research, entrepreneurship and public service. Ashish Kumar urged students to focus on clarity of purpose rather than confusion created by trends and social pressure.

Highlighting Aarni University’s role, he said the institution is committed to bridging the gap between ambition and access, especially for students from hilly and rural areas. “Aarni University is not just about degrees, but the focus is on shaping responsible professionals who are prepared for real-world challenges,” he said.

He explained how universities today must function as mentorship-driven ecosystems, providing students with academic support, career counselling, industry exposure and value-based education. According to him, initiatives like Udaan help students recognise their potential and take informed decisions at the right stage of life.

Students actively participated in the discussion, raising questions about career stability, competitive exams, skill development and the relevance of higher education in an AI-driven world. The counsellor responded by reiterating that education grounded in human intelligence and ethical thinking will always remain relevant.

The session concluded with a strong message — technology may change careers, but perseverance and human intellect will shape destinies — leaving students motivated and more confident about their future choices.
