Sanjay Kumar, Area Coordinator for Bharmour block, attended the camp alongside members of self-help groups and officials from local village organizations. Addressing the gathering, Kumar emphasized that gender inequality stems from discrimination against women based on gender. He noted that traditionally, women have been viewed as a weaker section of society and continue to face exploitation, humiliation, and bias both at home and in public life.

He highlighted that gender discrimination is a global issue and that the rural program is committed to eliminating poverty through the economic and social empowerment of rural women. The month-long nationwide campaign titled “Nayi Chetna – Pehel Badlav Ki” has been launched to enhance awareness and encourage community engagement against gender-based violence.

Focus on Rights and Empowerment

The campaign seeks to eliminate all forms of gender-based discrimination, prevent violence against women, and ensure their right to live without fear. Kumar stressed that gender equality is a fundamental human right and the foundation of a safe, healthy, and just society.

The meeting also included discussions on the activities conducted by village organizations and the roles of self-help groups and producer groups under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission. Mission Executive Akshay Kumar and Bookkeeper Manorama Devi were also present at the event.
