Under the clear leadership and guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh has transformed its pledge of a “Drug-Free Himachal” into a powerful people’s movement. Inspired by this vision, the Himachal Pradesh Police carried out an unprecedented 36-hour inter-state and inter-district naka campaign from 6 PM on November 17 to 6 AM on November 19.
The Chief Minister’s firm message — “Chitta will not be tolerated at any cost” — was translated into action through intensive and coordinated policing across the state.
Key Highlights of the Campaign
- 208 special checkpoints established across Himachal Pradesh
- 27,982 vehicles thoroughly inspected
- Use of drug detection kits and, where available, dog squads
- Rigorous checks of identity, documents, and luggage
- Videography of the entire process with legal documentation prepared on the spot
- Seamless coordination between district police, battalions, and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF)
Preliminary Results
- 25 NDPS cases registered
- 33 accused arrested
- Seizures include:
- 8.53 kg charas
- 67.14 g chitta (heroin)
- 2.658 kg ganja
- 21.78 g opium
- 100 intoxicant tablets
- 622 challans issued under the Motor Vehicles Act
Leadership & Public Appeal
Officials credit this success to the Chief Minister’s strong leadership, continuous support, and unwavering commitment to eradicating drugs. He has emphasized that the campaign is not limited to law enforcement but is a societal movement aimed at uprooting drug trafficking completely.
The Himachal Pradesh Police has appealed to citizens to bravely share information and actively participate in this historic initiative.
With the Chief Minister’s leadership and the united strength of the people, Himachal will defeat chitta.
