MANDI: A major accident was narrowly avoided on Wednesday (November 19, 2025) morning in the Dharampur area when a private bus travelling from Mandi towards Dharampur overturned near Malon, just ahead of Banerdi. The bus reportedly lost control and tipped over along the roadside, triggering panic and loud screams among the passengers.
Eyewitnesses and local residents rushed to the spot immediately and began rescue efforts even before authorities arrived. According to initial information, 18 to 20 passengers were on board at the time of the accident. Fortunately, all passengers escaped safely, and no serious injuries have been reported.
Local residents alerted the police and ambulance services without delay. Rescue teams reached the location soon after and successfully evacuated the passengers trapped inside the overturned vehicle. Police have cordoned off the area and initiated a preliminary investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety on this stretch, where similar accidents have been reported in the past. Authorities are examining whether vehicle condition, road layout or driver error contributed to the mishap.
