A disturbing case of s*exual assault involving a minor girl has surfaced in Chamba district. Police have arrested the accused and launched a detailed investigation.
According to officials, the 16-year-old victim was lured to Chamba under the pretext of attending her friend’s birthday party. The accused took her to a private hotel in the city, where he allegedly r*aped her.
After returning home, the girl confided in her mother, who promptly filed a complaint at the Women’s Police Station in Chamba.
The police conducted a medical examination at Chamba Medical College, which confirmed s*exual assault. The victim’s statement was recorded before a magistrate, following which the accused was taken into custody and brought to Chamba.
On Thursday, the accused was presented in court and remanded to three days of police custody. Investigators are now collecting CCTV footage from the hotel, witness testimonies, and other relevant evidence.
ASP Chamba, Hitesh Lakhanpal, confirmed the incident and stated that the case was registered based on the girl’s statement. He assured that the investigation is being carried out with utmost seriousness.
